[ISEA2015] Artists Statement: Joanna Bonder & Adam Polaczek — Camera Linea

Artists Statement

This project can function as a video software and also can be presented as an interactive installation based on several algorithms. Title of the work refers to the camera obscura, in which the light passes through a single hole to result in an inverted image. In our project we use the singular (1 pixel), vertical line from the camera image, However, we make an additional element which is time. We use the technical conditions of the camera – sampling 24 frames per second – which gives us a 24 “stripes” per second, and further 1440 stripes per minute – and so 1440 pixels length of visual material.
Our goal is to develop and expand an algorithm that We created for digital image processing. Result of this will be a computer program, which gives opportunity to change visual layer of video files or video streaming. Also, an attempt to create a script that will allow smooth transition from the normal video image to the processed – shows the transition process.
