Artist Statement

Special ISEA95 Event

Body Missing is Ms Frenkel’s first work conceived for computer network. Using the World Wide Web as platform, Body Missing is concerned with the open-ended process of reconstruction of missing art: here the art treasures stolen by the Nazis during the Second World War. Like all of Frenkel’s works, Body Missing plays on the the rich ambiguity between fact and ficition, memory and invention to create a unique network. Zone Productions is co-producing Ms Frenkel’s work.

• Vera Frenkel (Canada) is a distinguished Canadian video and installation artist. A winner of the Molson Prize and many other awards, her work has been exhibited at prestigious international events such as Documenta, the Venice Biennale, etc.
