[ISEA95] Artist Statement: Michael Mackenzie — Dark Practice Scarring

Artist Statement

Performance, Special ISEA95 Event, venue Ateliers NTC salle F. Barry

A multimedia theatre piece and an interactive environment, this work outlines a forensic investigation that becomes a simultaneous exploration of a city and investigation of a survival and a death. A child has been killed – the murderous gesture of an individual, or the result of a city crumbling under the weight of parasitic neglect? Through out the investigation, the pathologist contends with an identity swamped in technological dependence, while the coroner struggles with her own buried past, and the moral dilemma of the murdered child.
