[ISEA95] Artist Statement: John Colette — 30 Words for the city

Artist Statement

This work explores the relationship between subjectivity and cities through the metaphor of a “table of elements” of subjective experiences. Produced as a specifically CD-based experience, the work concentrates on the interperative process of the user as the focus of interaction, rather than a more limited notion of “interactivity” as a navigational schema.

  • John Colette (Australia) is a Sydney-based media artist and lecturer whose work includes digital photocollage, CD ROM and digitally produced videotape. His work was exhibited most recently at the Nagoya Biennale, ARTEC 95, as well as at previous ISEA symposia.
