[ISEA2008] Panel: Hiroshi Yoshioka (chair) — Animated Ideas: Investigating the Language of Animation

Panel Statement

invited panel

Japanese animation, or anirne, is so ubiquitous that it now seems to constitute a universal language in globalized pop culture. Aside from the mainstream, young artists are using animation to create new visual experiences. In this panel, we would like to show some of the latest experimental animation works produced by young students and graduates from IAMAS (Institute/International Academy of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences), and discuss the possibility of animation as a new language. Works by Makoto Murayama, Takahiro Hayakawa, ALIMO, Tsumugi Harunari, Nobuyuki Yamanaka and others will be presented,
