[ISEA2010] Introduction: ISEA2010 Organisers – Exhibition ISEA2010 RUHR

Introductory Statement

In a great response to the ISEA2010 RUHR open call, we received over a thousand entries in September 2009 from which thirty were selected for presentation in the exhibition by an international jury. Most of these works will be presented in the Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte. The works engage with topical themes such as climate change and the
deconstruction of identity concepts, and revel in alchemical experiments. A particular focus on new productions from Brazil is presented as part of the ISEA2010 RUHR Latin American Forum jointly with the Sergio Motta Institute. In the Dortmunder Kunstverein, the Japan Media
Arts Festival and Coded Cultures festival present four works in an international cooperative project called “Exchange Emergences”. Galerie RWE Tower in Dortmund offers a platform for projects that are active at the interface of art, science, and technology with a focus on setting
down new design strategies. In Dortmunder U, next to the TRUST exhibition, a new  presentation of Bill Seaman’s video installation “Exchange Fields”, restored by the inter media art institute Düsseldorf, can be seen. Norah Zuniga Shaw’s installation “Synchronous Objects, reproduced” enriches the exhibition with a spectacular work that explores the choreographic structures of a William Forsythe dance piece. It will be premiered at PACT Zollverein in Essen.
