[ISEA2002] Panel: Kazunao Abe, Akihiro Kubota, Gunalan Nadarajan & Fumihiro Nonomura (Moderator) — Will Media Art Be In A Museum?

Panel Statement

Orai Symposium

The value of an artwork as an “object” was qualified before modernity within the traditional genres of painting and sculpture. The modern museum was born as a second generation system to share the collections as public property of the citizen. Since the 1950s and much more so after 1968, the value became obscure. Discussion evaluated the upcoming form of the museum as the third generation in terms of the treatment of media arts, identity of works, and works in progress.
