About the omputer animation ‘Toyworks’: Barbara worked on the software development in association with her tutor at Middlesex, Paul Ashdown. The work incorporates innovatory software developments with particle systems (used in portraying fine grained images and detail within computer animation). The kinetic modelling is achieved by using hierachical mathematics and programming.

Barbara was very enthusiastic about solving the problems of animating a toy – hence ‘Toy Works’, and in the mathematical and computing processes she has also managed to release humour as an element of the final animation.

• Barbara Tutty (UK), born 1962. Studied Art nd Design at the University of Ulster, Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Graphics from Middlesex Polytechnic. She worked at CAL Video, Moving Picture Company, both in London. Currently working with TSI Video Ltd., London as freelance animator.
