[ISEA2023] Institutional Presentation: Chris Salter — Immersive Arts Space: Between Research, Teaching, Production in the Emerging field of “Immersive Arts” @ Zurich University of the Arts

Institutional Presentation Statement

Keywords: Immersive Arts, Studio-Lab, Performing Arts, Body, Representation, Ontology, Interdisciplinarity

This institutional presentation highlights an innovative university wide art-tech lab: the Immersive Arts Space at the Zurich University of the Arts (CH). The presentation describes the
lab’s role inside and outside the context of a large public art school and the manner in which different conceptual, critical and practice-base agendas coincide. The position of the
IASpace is theorized within broader frameworks of innovation and the social-material production of knowledge in Science and Technology Studies (STS) in order to understand the lab’s broader political-aesthetic dynamics and evolving ethos.
