[ISEA2023] Paper: Youyang Hu, Chiaochi Chou & Yasuaki Kakehi — Lucid Dream: Sensing and Artistic Representation of Plant-Nature Interaction Based on Plants Biosignals

Short Paper, Theme: Interspecies  Sub theme: Symbiotic Imaginaries

Lucid Dream explores how humans experience nature through the perception of plants. This work applies intelligent computing to interpret the biofeedback of plants in response to environmental stimuli and extend it to the artificial space for human perception.

  • Youyang Hu is an artist, researcher, and Ph.D. candidate at The University of Tokyo, Japan. He dedicated himself to conducting biohybrid experimental creations, using the calculable and augmented aspects of life as tentacles to redefine the relationship between life and nature.
  • Chiaochi Chou is an artist, researcher, and Ph.D. candidate at National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu City, Taiwan. She is committed to combining non-human organisms with her creations to create the viewer’s physical perception to explore the relationship between humans and nature.
  • Yasuaki Kakehi is a media artist, HCI researcher, and professor at The University of Tokyo, Japan. By combining digital technology and physical materials he has created installation works that show alternative ways of experiencing environments and objects.`
