[ISEA2022] Roundtable: ISEA International Advisory Committee — ISEA: Learning from the Past; Looking at the Future

Roundtable Statement

Special Session At ISEA2022, Monday June 13, 4.30-6.00 pm

This Roundtable will be held in the main theatre room of in the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), next to MACBA. The Roundtable is organised by the ISEA International Advisory Committee (IIAC) and will be moderated by IIAC member Jill Scott. The director of ISEA2022 will participate and the board of ISEA International is invited.

The ISEA symposium has been held in 19 countries around the world since 1988. A lot has changed in that time and we now find ourselves in a post-pandemic environment where dissemination of information and community engagement has changed radically. The structure of the ISEA organisation has also changed in the past 34 years and is continuing to change. The ISEA community as a whole is very diverse. At any ISEA symposium you will find attendees that helped define ISEA in the late 1980s as well as new comers. You will meet artists, scientists, researchers, curators, technologists, students and educators, as well as culturally diverse attendees from nearly every continent. The voice of the larger ISEA community is incredibly important in helping the organisation pave a dynamic and effective path forward.

This Roundtable will ask attendees to:
• Reflect on their experiences at the ISEA symposia throughout the years: What works well, what needs improvement?
• Suggest ideas for the future of the organisation and symposium
• Discuss possible goals and ways to realise them

We will involve participants that cannot be present in Barcelona via a remote connection. We appreciate expressions of interest, suggestions and other feedback.
