This presentation aims to present the program “Data+AI+Design”, focusing on aspects of design education, sustainability, creative use of artificial intelligence in art and design based on various events of the program and archives.

This presentation will introduce an educational program called “Data+AI+Design” that includes a series of workshops and guest speaker lectures in the intersection between art, design, technology, and sustainability. The topics specifically include the use of artificial intelligence (AI), data analysis, data visualization, interaction design, and interactive media technology to address the issues and solutions in sustainability. Many internationally recognized scholars, artists, designers, and researchers participated in the events. Students had chances to learn how AI impacts the design and what they can make out of the current AI technologies for design solutions for sustainability in many approaches.

  • Yoon Chung Han is an interaction designer, multimedia artist, and researcher. Her researches include data visualization, biometric data visualization and sonification, a new interface for musical expression, and multimodal sensory user experience design. Her recent research focus was on multimodal interactions using body data, in particular on creating a personalized experience in media arts using biometric data visualization and sonification. Her works have been presented in many international exhibitions, conferences, and academic journals such as ACM SIGGRAPH, Japan media arts festival, ZKM, NIME, ISEA, IEEE VIS, ACM CHI, and Leonardo Art Journal. She holds a Ph.D. at the Media Arts and Technology, UC Santa Barbara, USA, and currently is an Assistant Professor in Graphic Design at the Department of Design in the San Jose State University, USA. http://yoonchunghan.com/portfolio
