Artist Statement

2019_ACT_Festival_FoodHack @ ISEA2019

Ralph Borland explores crafts and indigenous design culture of Gwangju in this Residency for ISEA2019. And the artist attempts to create a work combining with subcultures such as electronic engineering site, sound system, hacking, and toy culture found on the street. • Ralph Borland is an artist, designer and curator, and multidisciplinary knowledge worker based in Cape Town, South Africa. Borland takes flexible interdisciplinary approaches to various themes such as power, behaviorism, social participation through design object, aesthetics of instant design, popular culture, sound and music, and multimedia and sculpture.
