Artists Statement

Mobile residency project on the Irish Sea.

Founded by artists Tapio Mäkelä (FI) and Marko Peljhan (SL/USA), M.A.R.I.N. is a mobile residency programme set on board a catamaran sailboat, redesigned and equipped to be a sustainable environment for transdisciplinary research in arts, sciences and technology.

  • Tapio Mäkelä (FI) has been director of artist association MUU, co-founder of m-cult, and programme chair of ISEA2004.
  • Marko Peljhan (SL/US), works as Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Art/Media/Technology at the University of California Santa Barbara, US.
  • Matthew Biederman (US/CA), works in new media contexts including installation, performance, video, and tactical media.
