Artist Statement

This work is our impression of the world as a distortion shaped by our fears. In ASYLUM, I am showing mental distortions translated into physical distortions. Each character is unique, but all are created from pictures of myself. The project consists of an interactive environment with several cells and inmates and an external ambience made of large format color photographs and video loops.

• Carlos Eduardo Muti Randolph (Brazil) is illustrator, animator, graphics designer, and artist, he studied Graphic Design at the Pontifica Universidade Catolica de Rio de Janeiro and has produced images for such clients as 0 Globo, White Martins, EMI-Video, Sony Music, BMG, and Warner. His personal work has been shown at one individual and several collective exhibitions. He makes use of visual elements from various techniques, including photography, design, video and three-dimensional objects.
