[ISEA98] Artists Statement: AUDIOROM – SOUND TRACK

Artists Statement

TRAINS, Liverpool to Manchester

Working in a public art context, AudioRom continue to be one of the most innovative collectives exploring the synergy between sound and visual material. With ‘Sound Track’they take the train line between Liverpool and Manchester as a source from which archive sound and visuals are mixed along with contemporary images and audio samples to trace the history of the transport network as a parallel to the electronic network. Two consoles – one in Manchester and one in Liverpool – each allow participants to make their own musical and visual score along the train line between the two cities. Selected trains act as a playhead for the composition and participants are able to hear their own pieces of audiovisual composition as the train progresses its journey.
