Artist Statement

Performed on the streets Rotterdam, the Rotterdam Central Station and the newly opened Erasmus Bridge

Colin Piepgras deals with the interface between the individual and a fast forward, mall-mythology culture. Piepgras, who is employed by the Field Robotics Center of Carnegie Mellon University, attempts to reconcile high-tech employment with a low-tech artisitic production. Through the manufacture and performance of mechanical exo-skeletons and insulating super-suits in quasi-public settings such as airports and train stations.

The Rotterdam performance drew attention from both local and national TV and newspapers,
