[ISEA2014] Paper: Greg Giannis – Mapping Public Spaces

Abstract

This paper discusses the lessons learnt from engaging the public to create subjective mappings through walking and the utilisation of custom software. Further to this, the approach used and the online cartographic application that resulted from the research has been identified as a suitable candidate for the mappings of indigenous knowledge about place as it circumvents problems that arise when western cartographic methods are utilised to map indigenous lands.
