[ISEA2015] Artist Statement: Norah Lorway — Techno/Acid House

Artist Statement

Live Coding (2015)

This work is algorithmic, procedural techno with a twist of acid house. Norah Lorway will perform a live coding Algorave set that is similar to her recent raves in Belgium, Slovenia, and the U.K. amongst others. The performance will feature live coding techno and acid house in SuperCollider and Fluxus.

  • Norah Lorway, Postdoctoral Fellow, University of British Columbia, Canada. Norah is a live coder, composer and computer music researcher who performs at Algoraves and other such events. She has a PhD in Computer Music from University of Birmingham, where she worked on music and software in SuperCollider and performed on the BEAST multichannel system. Since 2011, she has been a founding member of BEER, a live coding networked laptop ensemble based at the University. Currently she is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of British Columbia working at the intersection of live coding and gesture control.  norahlorway.com
