[ISEA94] Artist Statement: Florence Marcal — D’Apres Le Naufrage

Artist Statement

Experimental, animation, video art, 9’3″, 1994.

Fragments of a deluge. Expectation, fantasies, cannibalism. Snippets of a story, details of a painting, body in pieces. Memories of a drama, of an unveiled tragedy. Decay, repressed instincts are revealed. Makeshift boat, stripped bare, confused. Based on the drama of The Raft of the Medusa. [translated from french by google.com]
