[ISEA2014] Artists Statement: Gavin Baily, Tom Corby & Sarah Bagshaw — Terra Incognita

Artist Statement

Zayed University in Abu Dhabi presents work from various international artists whose focus and critical approach centers on the concept of location. The exhibition will consist of video, installations and photography.

  • Tom Corby (born 1966) & Gavin Baily (1970) are two London based artists who work collaboratively using public domain data, climate models, satellite imagery and the Internet. Recent work has focused on climate change and its relationship to technology and has involved collaborations with scientists working at the British Antarctic Survey.  Tom Corby is a Reader in Interdisciplinary Arts at the Centre for Research in Education, Art and Media (CREAM), at the University of Westminster.   • Sarah Bagshaw is a surface pattern designer/educator based in Birmingham, UK. She has a BA (Hons) in Fine Art (painting) from Falmouth College of Art, an MA in Surface Pattern Design from Birmingham City University and has also worked as an art and design lecturer for many years.  sarahbagshaw.com
