[ISEA2012] Introduction: The Albuquerque Museum of Art & History – Opening Ceremonies

Introductory Statement

Celebrate the opening day of the ISEA2012 conference with welcoming comments from organizers and dignitaries, introductions from ISEA2012 theme and focus area leaders, poetry by Hakim Bellamy, Albuquerque’s Poet Laureate and Latin American music by Chuy Martínez and Oti Ruiz. Emcee’d by Arturo Sandoval. A short reception in the lobby follows, generously catered by Slate Street Café. The Outpost Performance Space presents a salsa dance party directly following the ISEA2012 Opening Ceremonies, featuring Albuquerque’s #1 Salsa band, Son Como Son. Led by renowned trombonist, vocalist, composer, arranger and percussionist, Cesar Bauvallet, the 9-piece Son Como Son has been playing original salsa, Cuban style, since 1993. They’ve performed throughout New Mexico as well as at the Telluride Jazz Festival and beyond. The Albuquerque Museum of Art & History Amphitheater & Lobby.
