[ISEA2010] Artist Statement: Yunchul Kim – Epiphora

Artist Statement

Installation. A black, magnetic fluid surrounded by a clear liquid pulsates in the middle of the first imaginary organ, on the wall another organ in the form of a branched glass tube. They react to each other and seem to communicate. “Epiphora” (‘unstoppable tears’) presents the overflow as a symptom; as a fictional pathology. The organs then function both as embodying metaphor and as a symptom-producer.
