[ISEA2004] Paper: Jonathan Kemp & Martin Howse (ap) – fm01: film machine

Abstract

fm transposes non-metaphoric systems and grammar theory (of computer languages, abstraction and data containers) to the realm of expanded cinema. The base proposal concerns the development of a scripting language, data structures, and suitable filesystem for the automated production and grammatical expression of endless cinema.

  • Martin Howse is artist, programmer, theorist and film-maker. He founded ap in 1998. He has performed and collaborated worldwide using custom software and hardware modules for data/code processing and generation. He currently writes regularly for GNU/Linux/free software publications and has participated in related conferences and workshops.
